Beginner Bobbin Lace workshops coming up in Massachusetts
A previous workshop attendee tackles the sampler with the foundational stitches you need to make bobbin lace.
Working with some of my co-teachers in our New England Lace Group, we plan to offer some workshops in the late summer and fall of 2026.
If you’d like to be notified of these, sign up on our Contact Page here and we’ll let you know when and where they are scheduled.
Currently we want to do one in the Worcester MA area and one on the North Shore (Ipswich area!). We expect to do more if there is enough demand.
Dates are final now:
Worcester MA: Held on 2 Saturdays, August 8 and August 22 2026 https://www.lacecouvige.com/store/p/12-hour-beginner-bobbin-lace-workshop
Ipswich MA: Held on 2 Saturdays, September 12 and 26 2026 https://www.lacecouvige.com/store/p/12-hour-beginner-bobbin-lace-workshop-55xtt
The basics:
Using a 12-hour curriculum developed by members of the International Organization of Lace* you’ll learn the foundational stitches of bobbin lace and the crucial tools and techniques required to get you going on your lacemaking journey.
Requires no previous knowledge of lace techniques
You’ll explore: a stitch sampler, bracelet, bookmark, and other small beginner skills.
Includes: bobbins, pins, thread, patterns, curriculum, snacks, and social connection with other creatives embarking on a niche new craft. Loaner bobbin lace pillows available, or bring your own. (We’ll encourage everyone to use the same thread for alignment with the lessons; we’ll provide the thread.)
Class limit: 8 beginning lacemakers [minimum of 6 attendees to run the class; if not met, course fees returned]
Bring a packed lunch. Snacks provided.
*$9.00 goes for the International Organization for Lace curriculum. We order and print/prepare your copy and it’s yours to keep!
